On Feb. 23, the 2019 Chinese New Year Gala took place in the Georgian Rooms of the Student Union Building. Over 300 students and faculty members enjoyed delicious food and wonderful performances, and participated in fun games.

The performances included a Chinese traditional dance, Chinese pop songs, English songs, and a piano performance by American and Chinese students. Since 2019 is the Year of the Pig according to the Chinese calendar, Sodexo provided a Chinese style roast suckling pig, together with a variety of authentic Chinese food. The audience also learned about Chinese culture through interactive games. The dumpling-eating contest brought lots of laughter.

An annual celebration organized by the Society of Sino-American Studies, the Chinese New Year Gala has become a tradition at Truman, attracting more and more people to engage in intercultural communication.
